Opera on the River 2021 Headliner

Praised as “sizzling,” “riveting and passionate” and possessing a voice of “warm, organic liquidity,” mezzo-soprano Sarah Larsen spent the 2020-21 season with her home company of Seattle Opera, where she was featured as the Stewardess in Flight and Lola in Cavalleria rusticana highlights. She returns to The Metropolitan Opera for their 2021/22 season as the 2nd Lady in Die Zauberflöte, as well as joining Austin Opera, The Atlanta Opera, and The Lyric Opera of Kansas City in 2022 as Laurene Powell Jobs in The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs.
Since making her debut at The Metropolitan Opera in 2017, Sarah has been in many of their productions, including Der Ring des Nibelungen, La traviata, and Le nozze di Figaro. She has also performed with many other companies, including Arizona Opera, Calgary Opera, Mill City Summer Opera, Tanglewood Festival, Ravinia Festival, Berkshire Opera Festival, and I Solisti Veneti.
Sarah is from Roseville, MN and is a graduate of Simpson College and Rice University. She received additional training with Virginia Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, the Santa Fe Opera, and Seattle Opera.
