Robert E. Wills
Board Member
Founder & Music Director Emeritus
Maui Chamber Orchestra
Robert (Bob) Wills has spent more than four decades on the podium and on stage, first in the Twin Cities and, for the past several years, in Maui, Hawaii. In 2010 he founded the Maui Chamber Orchestra, growing it from a summer festival chorus into a full 501(c)(3) orchestra and chorus and leading it as Music Director through 2019. Under his direction, MCO earned a rare license to perform the entirety of West Side Story in concert, a distinction shared only with the San Francisco Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and Philadelphia Orchestra.
As a baritone soloist, Bob has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and orchestras across the country and Europe, including two invited performances conducting at the Vatican's Basilica of St. Peter. His musical theater credits range from music directing productions like Les Misérables and Matilda to performing lead roles such as Billy Bigelow in Carousel and Warbucks in Annie. He also spent 38 years as a church music director in the Twin Cities and holds his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of St. Thomas.
Bob brings a lifetime of musical leadership and stagecraft to SCVO's board.
