Soprano

Soprano Debra Gilroy brings a vibrant, powerful presence to her performances with her colorful, warm voice. Recently Debra was cast as Mrs. Grose in The Turn of the Screw and the title role in Madama Butterfly for the Opera Reading Project, as well as the role of Mrs. Billows in Albert Herring with CORO!. Other notable performances include productions of Carmen, La Fille du Régiment, and Pagliacci with Mill City Opera and Tosca, Die Zauberflöte, La Traviata, and Handel’s Messiah with the Minnesota Chorale. Debra was the featured soprano soloist for the North American performance of Eternal Light and the world premiere of Poems of Innocence. Debra teaches at Hamline University, Minneapolis College, and a private voice studio. She is a section leader with the Minnesota Chorale, a soloist and section leader for the First Unitarian Society of Mount Curve, and has been a guest conductor and choir director at Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church. She is the founder of Raison d’être Opéra company. She earned her post-graduate certification in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Minnesota and holds an MM degree and BA degree in Music Education.
