Pianist and Vocal Coach

Dr. Eric McEnaney enjoys a multifaceted career as one of America's foremost opera pianists and vocal coaches. Eric has assisted in the creative process of opera development alongside with distinguished composers including Paul Moravec, Paola Prestini, Kevin Puts, Bright Sheng, and Robert Ward. He is the co-founder and Music Director of Opera Reading Project and has a private vocal coaching studio.

Eric is currently a Master Coach for Minnesota Opera and has worked as a guest coach for many other opera companies. He served as Principal Production Pianist & Coach at Florentine Opera Company for four seasons. Eric is an official accompanist for the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and has worked as an orchestral keyboardist for Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, St. Paul Civic Symphony, and the orchestras of Minnesota Opera and Central City Opera. His performances have been broadcast locally and nationally, including on PBS Great Performances.

Eric is an alumnus of young artist programs at Music Academy of the West, Wolf Trap Opera Company, Des Moines Metro Opera, Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, and Minnesota Opera. He holds degrees in piano performance and collaborative piano from Eastern Illinois University, The University of Iowa, and the University of Minnesota, and makes his home in Minneapolis.
