Mark Billy (NYEE 2020)

Baritone

Native (Choctaw tribe) baritone Mark Billy is known for his big, rich-sounding voice and ringing high notes. In 2020, Mark was awarded a Music in Action grant from the Richard Wagner Society of the Upper Midwest and sang the role of Angelotti in the Northern Lights Music Festival’s production of Tosca. Mark was to sing the roles of King’s Man in Minnesota Opera’s Edward Tulane and Marullo in Rigoletto at Mill City, both of which were postponed.



In 2019, Mark joined the St. John’s Boys Choir to sing in The Star Gatherer. He was the featured soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the St. Catherine Choral Society and In Terra Pax at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a Young Artist with Hawaii Opera Theatre, where he sang Figaro in a touring production of The Barber of Seville and performed as Marchese in La Traviata on the main stage. Mark also performed as Marchese at the Northern Lights Music Festival. Mark was a First Place Winner in the 2018 Schubert Club Competition.
