Thomas Glass (BSR 2022)

Baritone

Baritone Thomas Glass is a Grand Prize winner of the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and arecent alum of the Houston Grand Opera Studio. This season, Thomas Glass makes his debut at The Metropolitan Opera in Puccini’s Turandot and Madama Butterfly, he returns to Houston Grand Opera as Papageno in The Magic Flute, and as Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette. He also sings the title role in Stewart Wallace and Michael Korie’s Harvey Milk at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.

In the 2020-2021 season, he returns to Minnesota Opera as the Vicar in Albert Herring, returns to Wolf Trap Opera for a production of Sweeney Todd, and makes his house and role debut at the Berkshire Opera Festival as Ford in Falstaff. A previously scheduled engagement was his return to Arizona Opera as Stanley Kowalski in André Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire. In concert, he rejoins Minnesota Opera for a performance featuring holiday-themed repertoire.

Highlights of recent seasons include house and role debuts at Atlanta Opera as Dandini in La Cenerentola and at Arizona Opera as John Lassiter in Craig Bohmler’s Riders of the Purple Sage, as well as role debuts at Houston Grand Opera as Marcello in La bohème and the title role in Il barbiere di Siviglia.

Born in Edina, Minnesota, Mr. Glass earned his Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
