Amy Sheffer Western (MC 2021)

Mezzo-Soprano

Amy Sheffer Western is a mezzo-soprano, originally from Delray Beach, Florida. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Houston. Amy made her professional debut as Primancianita in the the U.S. Premiere of Juan Trigos’ opera DeCachetito Raspado at the end of October, 2015. She was a district winner in the Houston Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2015 and received an encouragement award at the regional level. Amy sang in the Houston Grand Opera Chorus during the 2016-2017 season as well as working with HGO as a Spanish interpreter for their bilingual outreach program. She sang the role of Alma March in Opera in the Heights’ production of Adamo’s Little Women in 2017 before making the move to Minnesota. She is currently applying to graduate school to begin a career in healthcare.
