Celebrated for his dramatic versatility, baritone and stage director Jeffrey Madison has distinguished himself across a remarkable spectrum of repertoire—from grand opera and operetta to musical theater. With nearly 60 roles to his credit, Mr. Madison has performed leading roles with companies including The Minnesota Opera, Minnesota Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, Seattle Opera Young Artists, Chautauqua Opera, Western Plains Opera, Fargo-Moorhead Opera, and Lyric Opera of the North, as well as appearing at Carnegie Hall with the Minnesota Orchestra.
The Magic Flute and the Lost Prince marks Mr. Madison's 21st production as stage director and his debut with St. Croix Valley Opera. This work represents his second original adaptation of a Mozart opera, following his libretto for Mozart's The Impresario, which premiered with Lyric Opera of the North in 2024. His directorial credits include productions with Lyric Opera of the North, Skylark Opera, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Opera Theater, University of Wisconsin-Superior, Duluth Playhouse, Big Top Chautauqua, and Bethel University.
Mr. Madison is a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Superior and resides in Superior, Wisconsin, with his wife, Vicki Fingalson, and their two sons, Ben and Sam.
