Obed Floan, Master of Music, our Executive Director, lives in the community SCVO serves with his wife, Megan Wagner. He has more than 20 years of experience as a stage and concert performer, music educator, voice instructor, producer, and promoter. He has worked with master teachers and opera performers worldwide and was chosen from an international pool of contestants as one of 16 singers considered to be the world’s greatest up-and-coming Wagnerian singers selected to participate in the Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II held in Aalborg, Denmark. The competition was the largest in the world of its kind, whose goal was to find and profile the best young Wagnerian singers. He also made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2015 as the winner of the Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition - Wagner Division. He seeks to share his knowledge, expertise, and love of music with the public as a primary artistic goal. His students routinely move into professional roles in national and international opera houses, Broadway musicals, national tours, college and university productions, and prestigious summer and young artist programs.
